Connecting Google Ads

Connect your Google Ads account for Enhanced Conversions via the Google Ads API.

Overview

The Google Ads integration connects DealOracle to the Google Ads API for Enhanced Conversions. This allows you to send hashed first-party conversion data back to Google, improving conversion measurement and enabling smarter bidding.

How It Works

When a lead progresses through your funnel in DealOracle (e.g., from "New Lead" to "Closed Won"), the integration:

  1. Hashes the lead's PII (email, phone, name, address) using SHA-256
  2. Sends the hashed data along with the conversion action to Google Ads via the API
  3. Google matches the conversion to the original ad click using the hashed data or GCLID

Benefits

  • Improved conversion tracking accuracy — Enhanced Conversions recover conversions that would otherwise be lost due to cookie restrictions.
  • Better Smart Bidding — More accurate conversion data means Google's algorithms can optimize bids more effectively.
  • Offline conversion support — Report phone calls, in-person meetings, and closed deals back to Google Ads.
  • Cross-device attribution — Google can connect conversions that happen on a different device than the original ad click.

Prerequisites

Before connecting Google Ads, ensure you have:

  • Google Ads account — An active Google Ads account (or MCC account if you manage multiple clients).
  • Conversion actions created — You need at least one conversion action set up in Google Ads. Go to Tools & Settings → Measurement → Conversions to create them.
  • Google Ads API access — DealOracle uses OAuth to connect, so you just need to authorize with a Google account that has admin access to the Ads account.
  • Enhanced Conversions enabled — In Google Ads, go to Tools & Settings → Conversions → Settings → Enable Enhanced Conversions.

Tip: If you use a Google Ads Manager (MCC) account, you can connect once and then select individual client accounts during setup.

Connection Steps

Follow these steps to connect Google Ads to DealOracle:

Step 1: Navigate to Integrations

From your DealOracle dashboard, go to Settings → Integrations → Google Ads.

Step 2: Authorize Your Google Account

Click Connect Google Ads. You'll be redirected to Google's OAuth consent screen. Sign in with the Google account that has admin access to your Google Ads account and grant the requested permissions.

Step 3: Select Your Account

If you're using an MCC (Manager) account, DealOracle will display all client accounts under your MCC. Select the specific account you want to connect.

If you have a standalone account, it will be selected automatically.

Step 4: Pick Conversion Actions

DealOracle will pull in your existing conversion actions from Google Ads. Select the conversion actions you want to map to DealOracle dispositions. For example:

  • "Qualified Lead" conversion action
  • "Booked Appointment" conversion action
  • "Closed Deal" conversion action

Step 5: Map Dispositions to Conversion Actions

For each DealOracle disposition, select the corresponding Google Ads conversion action:

DealOracle DispositionGoogle Ads Conversion Action
QualifiedQualified Lead
Appointment SetBooked Appointment
Closed WonClosed Deal

Step 6: Test the Connection

Click Send Test Conversion. Verify it appears in Google Ads under Tools & Settings → Conversions (note: it may take up to 3 hours to appear).

Important: Google Ads conversions are not real-time. Allow up to 3 hours for uploaded conversions to appear in your account.

Conversion Action Mapping

GCLID Passthrough

For the most accurate attribution, DealOracle supports GCLID (Google Click ID) passthrough. When a user clicks on your Google ad and lands on your form:

  1. The GCLID is appended to the URL as a query parameter (?gclid=abc123)
  2. Your form or landing page captures the GCLID and passes it to DealOracle
  3. When a conversion is reported, DealOracle includes the GCLID for 1:1 click-level attribution

Best practice: Always capture the gclid parameter from your landing page URLs and include it when submitting leads to DealOracle. This provides the highest-quality attribution.

Conversion Values

You can configure conversion values in two ways:

  • Static values — Set a fixed dollar value for each conversion action (e.g., "Qualified Lead" = $50)
  • Dynamic values — Pass the actual deal value from DealOracle (e.g., the revenue amount from a closed deal)

Dynamic values are recommended for "Closed Won" conversions so that Google's Smart Bidding can optimize for revenue, not just conversion count.

Conversion Windows

Make sure your Google Ads conversion window is long enough to capture downstream events. For lead gen:

  • Click-through window: 30–90 days (depending on your sales cycle)
  • Engaged-view window: 7–30 days

Set this in Google Ads under your conversion action settings.

Verification

After setup, verify that conversions are flowing correctly:

Step 1: Check Google Ads

Go to Google Ads → Tools & Settings → Measurement → Conversions. Click on the conversion action you mapped. Look for:

  • "Uploaded" conversions in the conversion source breakdown
  • The number of conversions should increase within 3 hours of sending events from DealOracle

Step 2: Check the DealOracle Event Log

In DealOracle, go to Integrations → Google Ads → Event Log. Each sent conversion shows:

  • StatusSent, Accepted, or Failed
  • GCLID — Whether a GCLID was included (for click attribution)
  • Timestamp — When the conversion was sent

Step 3: Typical Delays

WhatExpected Delay
Test conversion appears in Google AdsUp to 3 hours
Conversion reflected in campaign reporting4–6 hours
Smart Bidding adjusts to new data1–2 weeks

Common Issues

  • "Conversion action not found" — Make sure the conversion action exists in Google Ads and is not removed or paused.
  • "GCLID expired" — GCLIDs are valid for 90 days. If your sales cycle is longer, consider using Enhanced Conversions with hashed user data instead.
  • Conversions not counting — Check that the conversion action's status is "Recording" (not "Inactive") in Google Ads.
