Overview
The Snapchat Conversions API (CAPI) integration allows DealOracle to send server-side conversion events directly to Snapchat. This improves attribution accuracy and helps Snap's ad delivery algorithm optimize for your highest-value outcomes.
Why Use Snapchat CAPI?
- Improved attribution — Server-side events supplement browser pixel data, filling in gaps caused by ad blockers and privacy features.
- Offline conversion tracking — Report phone calls, in-person appointments, and closed deals that happen after the initial Snapchat ad interaction.
- Better optimization — By sending qualified lead and closed deal events, you give Snap's algorithm stronger signals to find high-quality prospects.
- Privacy-safe — All PII is hashed (SHA-256) before being sent to Snapchat.
For lead gen advertisers: Snapchat CAPI is essential if you want to optimize beyond form fills. Tell Snap which leads actually turned into revenue, and the algorithm will find more users like them.
Prerequisites
Before connecting Snapchat CAPI, ensure you have:
- Snap Ads Manager access — Log in at ads.snapchat.com. You need at least a "Standard" role on the ad account.
- Snap Pixel created — Go to Ads Manager → Events Manager → Create Pixel. Note your Pixel ID.
- CAPI token — In your pixel settings, generate a Conversions API token. This is required for server-side event delivery.
- Active ad account — The pixel must be associated with an ad account that has active campaigns.
Generating a CAPI Token
- Go to Snap Ads Manager → Events Manager
- Select your pixel
- Click Settings → Conversions API
- Click Generate Token
- Copy the token — you'll paste it into DealOracle during setup
Note: CAPI tokens can be regenerated at any time, but doing so will invalidate the previous token. Update DealOracle immediately if you regenerate.
Connection Steps
Follow these steps to connect Snapchat CAPI to DealOracle:
Step 1: Navigate to Integrations
From your DealOracle dashboard, go to Settings → Integrations → Snapchat.
Step 2: Authorize via OAuth
Click Connect Snapchat. You'll be redirected to Snapchat's OAuth flow. Sign in with your Snapchat Business account and grant the requested permissions.
Step 3: Select Your Pixel
DealOracle will display all pixels associated with your Snapchat ad account. Select the pixel you want to use for conversion tracking.
Step 4: Map Events
Map your DealOracle dispositions to Snapchat standard events:
| DealOracle Disposition | Snapchat Event | Description |
|---|---|---|
| New Lead | SIGN_UP | A new lead has been captured |
| Qualified | ADD_TO_CART | Lead has been qualified |
| Appointment Set | START_CHECKOUT | Appointment or demo booked |
| Closed Won | PURCHASE | Deal closed successfully |
You can also create custom events for funnel stages that don't map to standard events.
Step 5: Save and Test
Click Save Configuration, then click Send Test Event to verify the connection. Check Snap Events Manager to confirm receipt.
Tip: Test events appear in Snap Events Manager within a few minutes. Look for events with the "Server" source label.
Testing & Troubleshooting
Verifying Events in Snap Events Manager
- Go to Snap Ads Manager → Events Manager
- Select your pixel
- Click on the Overview tab to see event volume
- Use the Test Events section to verify real-time event delivery
- Look for the "Server" badge on events sent via CAPI
Event Deduplication
If you're running both the Snapchat browser pixel and CAPI, Snapchat can deduplicate events. DealOracle includes a unique client_dedup_id with each CAPI event. Ensure your browser pixel sends the same ID to prevent double-counting.
Common Issues
- "Invalid CAPI token" — Regenerate your token in Snap Events Manager and update it in DealOracle.
- "Pixel not found" — Verify the pixel ID is correct and that your Snapchat account has access to it.
- Events not appearing — Check the DealOracle event log (Integrations → Snapchat → Event Log) for error messages. Common causes include expired tokens or incorrect event names.
- Low match rate — Include as much user data as possible (email, phone, IP address) to improve Snapchat's ability to match events to users.
- Events delayed — Snapchat CAPI events may take up to 15 minutes to appear in the Events Manager dashboard.
Best Practices
- Send events promptly — DealOracle sends events in near-real-time as dispositions change, which is ideal for Snapchat's algorithm.
- Include value data — For "Purchase" events, include the deal value so Snap can optimize for revenue.
- Monitor the event log — Regularly check the DealOracle event log to catch any delivery failures early.
